Because each slate piece is hand-crafted, irregularities must be expected on the surface & edges. Walnut oil may have been applied to some items. If desired, good natural oil may be rubbed on the surface of your slate in the future to enhance its natural contours. Slate products should be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
